Reconciled. Restored. Reigning.
'To Adam He said: “Because you have listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat, cursed is the ground because of you; through toil you will eat of it all the days of your life. Both thorns and thistles it will yield for you, and you will eat the plants of the field. By the sweat of your brow you will eat your bread, until you return to the ground—because out of it were you taken. For dust you are, and to dust you shall return.”' Genesis 3:17-19
'For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive an abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ! So then, just as one trespass brought condemnation for all men, so also one act of righteousness brought justification and life for all men. For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous. The law came in so that the trespass would increase; but where sin increased, grace increased all the more, so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.' Romans 5:17-21
Adam's sin bought death and condemnation. The whole world was affected because God had given authority over the earth to Adam. What was created and intended then to bring joy, the task of subduing the earth and reigning over creation, became a curse and a toil.
Man was and IS created to reign to bring order, to ensure balance, and lead. Adam stopped leading when he followed Eve instead of God. Jesus' death and resurrection bring life and righteousness and justification, through grace. Jesus used His authority to vanquish satan and sin. Just as Adams authority covered the earth, so Christ as the firstborn affects EVERYONE! We receive LIFE. Life for all people. And as Adam was cursed with toil, sons of God are blessed with GRACE to reign in life. To overcome, to see breakthrough, to be fruitful, to fall down over and over but to keep getting back up and going again.
This is why creation waits in eager expectation, for the sons of God to be revealed. We were always created to reign, to see the curse of sin broken, and it's only as we take our place, individually and collectively within local church, that creation will be restored, to the glory of God. Reign today. Take responsibility. Use your God given authority. See restoration.
